Su Baker Requests Curriculum Committee Sub Committee
Su Baker as part of the VCA Curriculum Committee has requested that a sub committee be set up in the lead up to the next VCA Curriculum Committee Meeting to “inform the decision-making to update the old VCA policies to come into line with current University policy.”
Due to my position on the Comittee (Undergraduate Representative), I have requested to be included as a student representative.
A summary of the VCA Curriculum Committee Meeting will be posted in the next few days for student analysis and discussion. It is not possible to post the document on the internet due to privacy conditions, although an enrolled student can request the minutes from Rebecca Bywater, Assistant to the head of the VCA.

No commentsAdvertising on Campus???
These posters were spotted in the caf’s “The Gallery”. Does anyone know what this is about? Is this advertising? Another student had suggested that the film is directed by a VCA Film & TV Alumni. The Cafe manager could not outline what the area was for, whether it was for advertising or for student displays. Read more

No commentsA response to Andrea Hull - VCA Student Union
A post from the VCA Student Union…
On Fri 22 May, VCA Head, Andrea Hull sent an email to students containing a number of outright lies. Here is the VCA Student Union’s response:
Andrea Hull claims: “There has been no move to implement the Melbourne Model at the VCA at this time. Of course, how the Melbourne Model might fit in to the VCA to the benefit of students has been a subject of discussion between the VCA and the University of Melbourne over the last year.”

A post from the VCA Student Union…
The VCA has only been a faculty of the University of Melbourne since the beginning of 2007 and already the little grubs in the university’s administration are pawing over VCA programs looking for the most suitable courses to cut
On the 15th of May University of Melbourne Provost Peter McPhee announced plans for a new “restructure” of courses at the VCA. The restructure will be effective as of 2009. The new faculty labelled “The Faculty of the VCA and Music” will see the 6 schools of the VCA reduced down to 3 and represents the introduction of the Melbourne Model at the college. The schools of Dance, Drama and Production will be merged into a single school of Performing Arts, The School of Music will be merged with the Faculty of Music at the Parkville campus of Melbourne Uni and the School of Film and television will be incorporated into the School of Art. Undergraduate studies in Film and Television (currently the only undergraduate degree in Film and TV in Australasia) will be axed. Read more
